CEE Energy Leaders to Gather for the 2nd Budapest Hydrogen Summit
March 31, 2023
Budapest, Hungary

After kick-starting the discussion about the future of hydrogen last year, the Budapest Hydrogen Summit will be organized this year again on 4 April. The conference, which Aretera is proud to support, will bring together the most important stakeholders of the hydrogen industry from Central and Eastern Europe and beyond to reflect on the developments of the past year and the future of hydrogen in the global energy transition.

Climate goals gave new momentum for hydrogen technology that enjoys renewed and rapidly growing attention worldwide. Due to its versatility, hydrogen has been described by many as the Holy Grail of decarbonisation. Harnessing the full potential of hydrogen has huge potential but there are still many open questions that must be answered.

Will hydrogen become the main energy carrier of the future? Which industries will profit from this new technology? Will green hydrogen overtake other forms of production? How to regulate this forthcoming market? Finally, how has the energy crisis impacted the development of the hydrogen economy?

These are some of the main questions that top industry experts and policymakers will discuss at the 2nd Budapest Hydrogen Summit on 4 April.

Speakers will include:
· Attila Steiner, Hungary’s State Secretary for Energy and Climate, who will present Hungary’s main targets in terms of the development of its hydrogen economy.
· Jorgo Chatzimarkakis, CEO of Hydrogen Europe, the leading organization representing European-based hydrogen companies and stakeholders.
· Ralph Bahke, GIE’s (Gas Infrastructure Europe) Hydrogen Area Sponsor and Managing Director ONTRAS Gastransport GmbH.
· James Watson, Secretary General of Eurogas.
